"Walking Stick" by The Painted Pianos
The idea for this music video came from the idea of staying together, working together, and being able to lean on the other. "The world is in our hands, so get up and grab your walking stick" are the lyrics that inspired this idea, as it means that the person can do what they want, but can do it with others to lean on if help is needed.
The idea I have starts out with a male 17-19 running down a walk way, and then comes across someone who is sitting on the floor, and then grabs their hand and pulls them along with them, continuing to run. The two then have to overcome obstacles and meet more people on the way to help eachother throughout the video. This video is not meant to focus on romance, but rather on friendship.
The band in the video is composed of the people they pick up along the way and work together with to make their experience as enjoyable as possible. They have a performance in which each of the band members is focused on equally and the people smile at eachother to enhance the feeling of together-ness.
I think that this theme is a good idea because people, especially in their late-teenage years experience a period of lonliness or a period of time where they don't feel as well about themselves, and where others coming in to help and support them are important. And that is what message this video is supposed to convey.
I believe the characters should look normal and every day- like. The lead singer should probably be a tall, brown haired and brown eyed man, as I think that is who the voice would fit best to.
The setting of the video would be in various locations, but at the moment I imagine te setting to be in a forest-y area which may be difficult to get through, on their way to a city; perhaps the characters are being chased for fun, and to get away from the "evil", they must work together to overcome this obstacle.
Campaign:
Even though this band is originally indie, I think that they could have a bit more publicity and show themselves on the digipak and on the website as depicted; the song in the music video is about friendship and holding together, which is why I actually think the digipak design above is very good because it also shows them holding together, yet also brings across a bit of an indie vibe and doesn't portray them too much and doesn't give the band too much publicity.
