Music Video Idea 3

"My House" by Tokyo Police Club
(Funnily enough this song does not exist on YouTube, nor could I find lyrics for it)

I see the music video here being more surrealistic, and having more special effects in the cut scenes rather than having a story; the singer and the band will be doing different things together, as well as a performance, or each be shown in their own short cut scene with "rain" pouring down on them or some visual effects which make the video more interestig.

When thinking of this song, I don't see the band dancing or having an awesome loud performance, with people partying and woo-ing to them. I think that even though this song isn't too futuristic, I think using visual effects could be interesting and a different twist to everything else. This could be done with a beamer or in post, adding in visual effects, or interesting make up - another thing that, for some reason, I'm imagining with this music video is them using umbrellas and rain - the song sounds a little indie, which is why the concept of rain and/or umbrellas is calming and actually fits in with the ethic of the song.

EDIT: I don't think using CGI would be the best idea because it takes a very long time in post-production.
I don't think I would want a narrative in this music video because I cannot simply think of a proper idea without it sounding too much like my other ideas or cliché.

I will want to add in a performance element and perhaps some lip syncing, however I'm not exactly sure what the layout of this would be. The umbrella idea sounds more feminine to me now than it did before, which is why I think that I should probably switch it to something else.

I imagine the band consisting of 18-20 year old males, which look more mature and may have a bit of a stubble, rather than a proper teenage boy. The voice just wouldn't suit one.

I imagine the video to be slightly de-saturated, but not completely in black and white to fit in with the indie vibe I'm getting from this song. I don't think using warmer colours would fit in with the song too well, and therefore having colder colours would work. It would also make the audience more interested in the video because even though the song is quite calm, the video wouldn't make the audience fall asleep.

Campaigns:

To market this band, I would use colours and a design that reflects an indie digipak, because that's what the band is. I doubt that people really know what the band looks like, and it seems as if they are trying to stay undercover. Therefore, to complete this image, and to fit in with the music, I feel that the design of the website and the digipak should be calm and not reveal too much about the members themselves, so people can focus on the music more.

I feel that a similar website to this would look good with the image of the band because it doesn't reveal too much of the band, it's calm, and lets the audience focus on the music more rather than on the image of the artists.
