Today we took Matt's comments and suggestions about editing into considerations, and began with creating a new cut. After some deliberation with my group, we decided that instead of making a new cut we would go back into the first cut that we had created and go into detail, and save us a lot of time.
Before we made any changes to the cut, we decided to duplicate it just in case we make some mistake and can always return to what we had before. We began using wide shots, mid shots and close up shots to shorten certain parts of the edit, and makes everything flow more smoothly.
We used the blade tool to cut some shots into sections and manipulate footage in any way we want. It also allows us to pull certain shots back and move them around without messing with the entire shot, which sometimes could go throughout the entire duration of the song.
An issue that we did run into was to do with continuity, which included Mike picking up the test tube with the right hand in the wide shot, and in every other shot with the left hand.
Chris then suggested we use a close up of his face so that we can't see which hand he picks up the test tube with, however due to the movement of the arm it looked weird. The wide shot and the close up didn't work together. We then decided that the wide shot didn't work very well and so we added computer screens instead.
We also decided to add in parts of Oriana's tap so we could build up to the futuristic part and transition.

Evie - an excellent week of editing. Not only have you managed to produce a performance cut - you are well on your way to creating a great pop music video. The ideas that you produced in research are coming to fruition in the final product. I ma impressed on the reflection shown in the entries for the blog which give an excellent account of decisions made and the journey you have been through.
