Finishing the Digipak

One thing that we noticed when looking at our digipak design, click here, is that there are no track listings, as well as no spine and no copyright information on the back. Therefore, I went ahead and created this in order to finish up the digipak.

To create the copyright text I used an example that I found on an official album, and the recording studio is actually the one which is used by Parov Stellar (Etage Noir Recordings). The reason why I chose this record company is because I figured that if they have a band with similar music to the one that ours has, in an imaginary world, they may want to sign for us as well.

The barcode I created uses the numbers of an old phone keyboard, to spell out BEATOPHONE. This is made evident through the following: 2:B/3:E/2:A/8:T/6:O/7:P/4:H/6:O/6:N/3:E - I feel as if this was a smart idea rather than having a really random barcode at the bottom; it is a little easter egg that if looked at closely enough, is a fun activity to de-code. To create this barcode I used a website called Barcode Tec, 

To then finish the digipak off, we had to come up with some names for the other songs which would be on the album, next to Beatophone of course. Nanci decided to come up with some names, as I tried to finish off the album. The first suggestions which she sent were sadly a bit too long, as we also wanted to add the Thai variation to fit in with the title of the album.

The second batch of suggestions she sent were names which were simply too short, and would look weird if placed on the back of an album cover or on the website. We then suggested to her that she should combine these and we would therefore then get the best of both worlds. 

In the end, after combining the two, which resulted in a track list of 12 songs, these are the titles which we chose:

1. Blind to the Rhythm
2. Swinging
3. Whizz
4. False Saxophone
5. Morning Circus
6. Spark
7. Clash
8. Gold
9. A-Site
10. Beatophone
11. Elements
12. Kings

Chris then went ahead and "translated" these words into Thai, or better said, using the Thai alphabet to spell out the English word to add to the aesthetic of the album. After he did this I added the track list to the album cover.

I didn't add the metallic effect to the text as I think that this makes it easier to read. Here is the overall, finished digipak:
