Whether or not our work is conventional (recogniseable, typical, expected, the 'norm') or unconventional (atypical, unexpected) is to be figured out once I evaluate my work.
For music videos, conventions are counted towards what you would find in the technical, such as camera angles and editing techniques, and symbolic, such as mise-en-scene and colourgrading, aspects. They are also typically up to three minutes long, include fast edits and present the band. The conventions fot the digipak will include how it is set up and what kind of imagery is on it, alongside the set up of font (sizes) and whether or not these are typical for a CD digipak. Lastly, the website will, or at least should, include whether or not there is a homepage and all the additional pages such as tour dates, biography, and whether or not the artist is presented on it or not.
According to Keith Negus, a music video is the shameless promotion of the artist and their work. This is true because typically, the artist is the main focus of the video and is only very rarely not fulfilled. Next to this, music videos always have a large range of shots to remain interesting, cut to the beat of the track, and most of all, disregarding reality. Throughout this evaluation I will apply Keith Negus' theory to my own work and discuss whether our work is conventional or unconventional.
