Developing Digipak & Website Ideas

We have been considering ideas for our digipak and website and how we could possibly represent it better with the star image discussed in this post.

One of the main things which we discussed as a group for the imagery was the robot; the original robot which Chris drew was too cute and childish and whether this was an appropriate appearance for our band was questionable. Therefore, we decided to alter the robot to fit with the more mature theme we want to go for. The main reason why the robot looked too cute was due to his moustache, so we thought that it might be successful if we removed it.

Here is a less cute version of the robot

We also have been thinking about how we could potentially lay out the website and support the digipak in the same way. We thought that using the robot on the website as well might be a good idea, We were planning to have him fade to black, to make the look of it more mysterious. However, the more I think about it, the more I dislike the general idea of it because I just don't like the robot that much. I think it looks weird and I feel like I cannot execute it right. Also, the website and the digipak should not relate directly, as this would probably end up looking quite sloppy.

I imagine the colour scheme for the website and digipak to be in the colour spectrum of black, copper and gold. These colours are quite warm and represent how the 1920's era appears in film quite well, therefore I think we should stick with it. Also, the colours work together well no matter what, which is why it is probably the safest choice we have.

Here is the robot I created, but don't really like despite having a moustache or no moustache (it looks a bit like a lampshade):
