Research into Similar Artists for the Song "Big Yellow Taxi"

When I was looking around for similar artists to Joni Mitchell, who is the original artist of "Big Yellow Taxi", I found a few which could be used as inspiration.

Carole King:

Carole King is a songwriter who created most of her songs in the 70's. She's considered to be one of the most influential singers and songwriters of the 20th century.

This album cover is quite organic despite her being shown on the cover and putting her in the spotlight. I feel that this artist makes herself known for the right reasons, and this album cover also represents an indie cover. This may be something we would want to consider for our own artist. By using a bit of photoshop, we could make our album covers similar and come up with an original idea that will represent the artists.

This song of hers, "You've got a Friend" sounds very similar to the song cover that we might make a music video for.

Her website is quite original as well, however the way it was layed out reminds me a bit of a memoir. Of course it is to remember and represent the artist, however it looks a bit too morgish. I think the colourscheme of the website is nice which we could use to represent the artist when choosing this song, and could implement a country theme to it. 

Other ideas could include James Taylor's website design, where a bit more modern look, yet also still indie. This may be a good representation for the duo we have in mind.

Overall, I think that the look and ethic of this artist might be a good call to look at when attempting to create an environmentally friendly, indie and organic looking artist. This may represent everything that we would want our artist to stand for. See Nanci's word cloud.
