How to Make Bruises with Make-Up

In our thriller, our victim is being used by the killer as a utility for colour - by using his blood the serial killer paints on a canvas and draws some kind of psychotic image.
Even though the cuts are very important on the body, we would like to aim and not only make him look cut up, but also tattered - therefore we need the effect of the victim being bruised slightly.
In this video it shows how to create the illusion of a bruise - they do look pretty realistic, and there needs to be an insinuation of the bruise there so that the audience can understand that this person is being victimised.
I have tried to replicate this effect with watercolour as I don't have a specific FX palette.

I started out with yellow and green as the base - bruises usually have that effect around the area affected.

I then added red to build up the specific affected area.

I added some blue to give it that purpelish hue that it usually has

I added some more red to make it appear more gruesome. That's how to make a horrific bruise with water colour.

It's a quick and easy way to create a bruise with watercolour - in case we want our body to be bruised, we will be able to quickly replicate this effect on the victim and make him look tattered. If we do it right with the lighting we can make them appear even more horrifying.
