Sketching Website Ideas

We have begun to sketch ideas for the website so that we could promote our artist well. From doing our research, the main purpose of a website is to promote the artist/band, or their music (depending on whether they are highly synthetic or organic, or not...). It is quite important that the band is represented on the website, however, we don't necessarily have to show them directly, as evidenced by Polar Stellar's website.

We are still quite unsure about the band name, even though the idea for "Bolt" in Thai was quite cool. The issue I see with this band name is the way that we would be able to use it in the terms of font. There aren't many Thai fonts out there, and I think that it would be quite difficult for me to recreate one that then actually looks like what it's supposed to. If we go with this Thai writing, then I need to be extremely careful with how I construct the look of the word so it doesn't accidentally end up looking like a different word.

We first started out considering using imagery that we used in our music video, but made the same realisation when we were creating our digipak. The music video alone doesn't necessarily represent all the band is standing for, and also, Mike isn't necessarily the artist of the band, therefore shouldn't be the face that is shown. It would also probably make everything seem more synthetic, which is what I think we want to be moving away from. I don't see our band being constructed by the media, but rather them attempting to build up themselves as best as possible.

We then decided that we could probably use similar imagery to the one that we discussed in our digipak ideas, to read those click here. We decided that it might be smart to change the look that we decided on in the digipak slightly, so that we would have the robot lying down underneath the band name. This would make the website quite cool and would link the website and digipak nicely. It also makes the band appear more lightharted, rather than serious, which is what the Electro Swing genre is generally about.
