Audience Feedback on our Music Video

To determine the strengths and weaknesses of our music video, we decided to turn to people within our targeted age-group, click here to see who these are, and let them tell us how they thought it was and what improvements we could make on it, if we had to do it again.

From the general audience feedback we received that overall, the music video was enjoyed quite a lot and that the narrative which we had included in it (the jump from the 1920's sequence to the future) was very clear.
The first thing that stood out to the audience, however, which was not our intention at all, that in the futuristic bit the dancers were aliens. Whilst we never determined that they would be aliens, or whatever else they would be, we never clearly intended it to be this way. Then again, it isn't a huge problem as the jump from the 1920's to the future was made clear.
Another thing that stood out was the debate about the mad scientist. Some of the audience said they enjoyed his part, however wished that he would have been more eccentric (even though this was not possible as we had to kind of rush filming this part), whilst others said they would completely dismiss the scientist's part as this was the weakest and that the role didn't fit that well. I tend to disagree because I think that Mike looks wacky and lip-syncs quite well, although I wish we could have been more eccentric.

The audience also said that they wished the futuristic part had come in earlier in the song so that both portions would have been equal, which I understand, but at the same time kind of disagree with. The reason why we put the futuristic part at the time we did is because of the bridge in the song, which was able to give us a smooth transition. Unless we would have edited the song to fit to our liking, we would have probably had a hard time to make this transition clear and therefore I think it is alright at where it is.

All of the audience agreed that the mise-en-scene and art direction in the video was very good, and that the set design was very intricate and carefully thought out, and fits very well.

I think this feedback is generally very positive and makes me happy that people enjoy our craft.

excellent effort to complete the final cut of your music video - and with the use of a title- impressive! I like the CD digipak that you have posted, but is it too reliant on the 1930s style of the song that is covered by the CD single release? Can you also post the link to the website draft. There is excellent audience feedback that has been posted - this can be developed further in the Spring term. I think that all your blog entries are up to date and detailed - well done.
