Here is our pinterest board where we are gathering ideas for our chosen song "Home". We don't quite have the grasp of the concept we want yet, however through the pinterest board we hope to find an idea that we all want to work with.
At first, when we were considering what we could do, we were all thinking quite literal with going home. We knew it wouldn't work well, because literal narratives would rarely work well.
At first we invisioned a lot of colour and funkiness, as well as dancers within the video. The song itself is quite up beat and therefore we thought that it would probably work well.
Chris wasn't too much for the idea, and he was right. When we listened to the song more and realised that it actually had a bit of a deeper meaning behind it, we, as a group, decided that the visuals will have to be more meaningful than colours and dancing.
What we then started off with was with Chris' idea of having an old man remembering his past, and his wife which he has lost. This is actually not a bad idea, because home cna mean a variety of things, and we were thinking that perhaps we could represent a contextual concept of home rather than literal. We started looking at images of old things, such as a scrapyard, memories, photobooks, polaroids, and so on.
Nanci conducted a survey to grasp what "Home" means to everyone. Rather than being an actual building, it could mean a place or a person who you feel safe, comfortable and warm with. Home represents something that could keep people grounded and something to rely on when they're not feeling well.
Here are a few ideas that we could look at when pitching our idea:
- Scrapyards
- Memories
- Memory box
- White room with a lot of images placed on the wall
- A car driving at night
