Also, click here to get to my very first ideas when I first created the idea.
Because we want to create a star image that is organic (Click here to get to the Star Image according to Dyer and Negus' star theory), and stands for components such as youthfulness, success against the odds, teamwork, unity, and spirit (Click here to get to our word cloud), our entire campaign will probably consist of these kind of ideologies. Alongside the music video we currently believe that we would like to create a mundane, outlandish looking website and digipak, perhaps tying in with the ideas of memories, or a harsh industrial setting.
I decided not to take a look at the original artist for the band of the song "Home", as I want to construct my own artist rather than go along with something that already exists (this is one of the reasons I'm rather glad that there is no official music video for the song itself).
I think that the website for the Alvarez Kings could also be useful inspiration because of the way that the website is layed out. Rather than focusing on the image of the artist, they portray their music video immediately, which connotes that they want the people v
isiting their website to take a look at their music first. I believe that our artist will be more about their music rather than about who they are, so this would be perfect. This also ties in with the ideology of being absent rather than present, because it shoves the music into the audience's faces rather than themselves.
The digipak is very important when it comes to branding our artist. We want both the website and digipak to embody the meaning and concept of the song and be representative of the band being down to earth and wanting to stay out of the spotlight. Just because of the way that we want to construct our artist we think it might be suitable if we didn't portray our artist due to their organic nature and the importance of their music. Perhaps because we also want to promote the individuality and creativity of the artist, it could be suitable if the digipak was something spectacular and was a well thought out artwork or piece of photography.
We were thinking that it might be suitable if we repeated some elements of the music video on our digipak. It is probably the best idea if we incorporate similar ideas into each of the elements across each parts of the campaign (Click here to get to our treatment). Because our idea is partially about developing images within a dark room, we think it might be suitable to have old polaroid images displayed on our digipak. This also ties in with the alternative rock genre that the song is placed in. Also, I think that it would be suitable for us to have something as such because it seems to be something that is trending right now, and teenagers often appeal to rather vintage looking things currently. Perhaps this would be a good idea to draw in our target audience.
It would be suitable if our band had an unique selling point that makes it stand out from all the other artists. This way, we can make the entire campaign more interesting and give people something to look at and be intruiged by rather than just having something that has been done before. This is something we have to develop and think about for the future.
